I am extremely self-motivated, with enthusiasm, drive and a desire to succeed and also very conscientious, hard working with excellent attendance record.

I was engaged in a Senior CAD / QA position for the four month duration of the pre-lay survey of three segments of the Submarine Cable System for Tycom, Singtel and the Principal Sub-Contractor C&C Technologies, while en-route between Taiwan, China, Korea & Japan.

I prepared the presentation of the Bathymetric and Geological results for the pre-lay cable route survey for Alcatel, covering two routes for fibre-optic cables across the North Sea during a three month period on board the vessel "Sea Explorer"

1999 D.S.N.D. (SeaTeam) Ltd Oslo Norway HYDROGRAPHIC CADMAN

During the As-Trenched survey of the 24" South Arne subsea gas pipe line on board the Hydrographic Survey vessel STM Atria, the scanned files when received from the ROV through the On-Line room were processed to present burial condition of the pipe, then converted using their SeaChart software package for AutoCAD drawing presentation.

Using Microstation "SE" to NORSOK standards with Kvaerner's KOGAS system, I prepared the structural fabrication drawings on an experimental process plant to extract the CO2 from exhaust emissions of Industrial & Offshore Generation plants. This included liasing with client on design finalisation & equipment foundations, along with re-routing piping systems to suit, ready for load out to the Statoil test facility.

Structural design drawings using AutoCAD R.14 on a new fleet of O.S.V’S and Anchor Handling Vessels varying in size a capability to support the Oil Industry as it moves to deeper water in the Gulf of Mexico.

Structural fabrication drawings using ‘Kockums’ STEARBEAR/TRIBON’ shipbuilding CadCam system on the F.P.S.O. newbuilding ‘SCHIEHALLION’ for BP and the tanker conversion of the ‘GLAS DOWR’ into an F.P.S.O. for Bluewater b.v.

1996 NEVESBU B.V., Netherlands SENIOR MARINE DESIGNER

Prepared architectural and structural drawings with AutoCAD 12 on the conversion of BLUEWATERS double skin oil tanker ‘GLAS DOWR’ into a Floating Production Storage & Offloading facility (F.P.S.O.) for use by Amerada Hess in the North Sea.

Handled the conceptual feasibility study for the fabrication of the waterjet foundation and intake structure of the STENA HSS 900 high speed twin hull ferry project.

1995 COFLEXIP STENA OFFSHORE, Aberdeen SENIOR MARINE DESIGNER

Prepared subsea & topside structural fabrication drawings using AutoCAD R12 on Hamilton Oils ‘Liverpool Bay’ development for the installation of flexible pipes & cables with draughting and checking on various other active projects & tenders.

Structural design and detail of heavy handling equipment to install and control the riser/conductors for tether inspection of the ‘Heidrun’ tension leg platform.

Handled the development of a variety of structural & piping design modifications to be implemented on their own jack-up & semi-submersible drilling rigs plus the drilling facilities operated by Santa-Fe on the platforms of Oil/Gas Production Companies.

Prepared the design and detail drawings for inclusion in the work package to install new shale shakers and desilters on Shell’s North Cormorant Platform drilling facilities.

Detail draughting and feasibility studies to give existing vessels the additional dive support and standby/rescue to UK 300 Class standards capabilities.

Instructed and supervised the Client’s sub-contractors in the erection and installation of A60 / H120 firewalls and doors on the Umm Shaif Project of Sadiyat Island, U.A.E.

Managed the design, detailing, fabrication and initial testing of the prototype of a retractable stairway to aid the rapid evacuation of personnel from offshore installations down to sea level into liferafts or rescue craft. This was a very interesting project to handle, having already done preliminary development on the same concept in 1983 at Seaforth Maritime prior to the Cullen Report on the Piper Alpha disaster.

Offshore H.V.A.C. commissioning on the Piper Bravo Platform and preparing Hydrotest Iso-Schematic drawings from piping arrangements and P & ID drawings.

Prepared ducting layout and support fabrication drawings for various process and accommodation modules on Brae ‘B’ and East Piper ‘B’, Saltire and Tiffany Platforms.

Handled the conceptual design study for a bid tender to install an 1800 tonne, 15m dia cable carousel in British Telecom's vessel MV Discovery.

Prepared structural fabrication drawings in bi-lingual form of a 9500 dwt L.P.G. carrier being built for Scottish owners with class approval by Germanischer Lloyds.

1989 McTAY MARINE LIMITED, Tyneside MARINE DESIGN DRAUGHTSMAN

Structural fabrication design on a harbour tug, incorporating the Voith Schnieder propulsion thruster and fairing guard into the hull, involving the shell and framing

Prepared the structural, piping and general arrangement drawings required to be included in the project specification for the conversion of an oil tanker into an offshore ‘Floating Storage Unit’ F.S.U. involving new accommodation AND bow for turret.

Handled the design, detail and supervision of sub-contractors during the modifications to MV ‘Flexservice 3’ adding tanks and transfer equipment to lay subsea telecom cables

Structural fabrication draughting of an ‘A’ frame with docking head, to deploy subsea cable/pipe laying ploughs from the deck of the offshore support vessel having previously been involved with S.M.D. through Northern Ocean Services and I.T.M. Offshore on various subsea cable/pipe laying projects.

1988 MATATEC HATCHCOVERS LTD., Tyneside MARINE DESIGN ENGINEER

Managed the design, detail, fabrication and supervision of sub-contractors on a project to install a tween deck vehicle hatch/ramp, capable of transferring articulated lorries and cars up to the exterior vehicle deck, which when raised, formed a flush WT deck.

1988 D.S.L. CONTRACTS LTD., S. Africa OFFSHORE DESIGNER

Design draughting for the fabrication and installation of H120, A60 and AO internal and external firewall systems on the Mossel Bay offshore oil and gas development using Booth Industries approved firewall and door design as the nominated supplier.

1987 DAVY OFFSHORE LTD., Teesside MARINE PROJECT ENGINEER

Prepared the structural and piping drawings required for Lloyds approval, adding a heli-deck to the offshore vessel ‘Northern Venturer’ and redrawing the Fire and Safety Plan.

Designed from concept a multi-purpose offshore dive support cable/pipe laying vessel, preparing general arrangement and structural scantling drawings with the relevant sections of the vessels tender specification for issue worldwide.

Conceptual design of a multi-purpose offshore support vessel for B.P. and the preparation of various bid tender packages for subsea pipe/cable laying projects.

1984 NORDVESTCONSULT A/S, Norway MARINE DESIGN DRAUGHTSMAN

Structural design draughting of a refrigerated container vessel and deep sea factory trawlers for approval by Det Norske Veritas, being built in Norwegian yards.

1983 I.T.M. OFFSHORE LIMITED, Teesside MARINE DESIGN ENGINEER

Modified the crane job sheave and hook layout on the offshore crane ITM ‘Mariner’ preparing the fabrication and installation drawings for approval by Lloyds. Then worked within the project management team on the design of the ITM Flexiport

Developed as part of a ‘NATO’ project the concept of converting a container vessel into a floating combat helicopter support ship and maintenance depot.

Structural and outfit detail draughting and construction of an offshore anchor handling tug followed by a factory fishing trawler during my second visit to Newfoundland.

Design and fabrication drawings of the stern structure, rudder, rudder stock and spectacle frame shaft bossings including shell and framing on the P.E.I. ro-ro ferry.

During the design development of combat hovercraft for the U.S. Army, I handled the full size close tolerance lofting of the Glass Reinforced Plastic main air intakes.

Prepared the conceptual design drawings of the complete topside drilling facility for the Australian offshore platform North Rankin ‘A’ covering the structural, mechanical and electrical disciplines. Then the structural layout and details of the Mud Sack Storage module on the North Sea platform Statfjord ‘B’.

Following the preparation of the structural fabrication drawings, I acted as the office liaison during the construction and final outfitting of a series of four container vessels.

Structural , outfit and H.V.A.C. draughting on semi-submersible drilling rigs and drillship being built to Earl & Wright’s designs for the South East Drilling Co.
